Here they raised cattle and hay and Clifford attended school at Longmeadow through the eighth grade. For a while he attended St. Joseph Catholic school in Denver until the four school districts near Bailey consolidated into one district in Bailey and changed the name of the school from Deer Creek School to Platte Canyon. He then went back to Bailey to attend school and graduated in 1953 from Platte Canyon High School in a class of three. In 1952 Clifford went to work for the Denver Water Board and worked there until he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in Denver in February, 1954. He was sent to boot camp in San Diego, CA. Five years later on July 21, 1962, Clifford and Donna had their marriage blessed at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lodi, CA. A month later Clifford and Donna moved to Whittier, CA where Clifford began working for his brother, Don, as a carpenter. Sometime after this Clifford became a Journeyman Carpenter through the East Los Angeles Local Union #1497.
