Research / The german roots
Germany is most probably the country where the Lamping families originate.
Although the real roots of the Lamping family are not found yet, I hope the circle gets smaller and
smaller in the coming years.
I have got contact with Dorothea Lamping in Diepholz, Germany. She said she had some information and
she would start searching for it. I hope to receive some mail in the coming weeks.
There is Joseph Lamping in Cappeln, whom I have to write a letter in order to get more
information about his family. I phoned him at November 9, 1996.
Cappeln is the place where tow major branches in the USA have their roots. Joseph and Dirk were
born there in the beginning of the nineteenth century.

Bomhof, Langforden, near Vechta)
Herman Henrich Lamping was born in Langforden (bear Vechta), Germany. Probably his father >>Anton Lamping was born there too.
Descendants of Anton Lamping live in the USA, like >>Willis Alvin Lamping who submitted quite a lot of data.
Cappeln
Heinrich Lamping living in Cappeln still lives. His wife is about 70 years old. That makes them of the 1926 generation.
I have the impression that there are more Lamping members in Cappeln, who are also related to the Lotte branches.
I wrote to Josef Lamping (Nov 10, 1996) to acquire more information and I am also in contact with Celia Freese, who has more
information about Heinrich Lamping.
Ancestor line: Joseph (b. 1928), Fritz, Fritz (d. 1920), August(?). There used to live relatives in Amsterdam, The Netherlands,
named Anna Lamping and Paula Lamping. Both have died.
Law of succesion defined that the youngest son inherits the family possesions. In Diepholz it was the oldest son.
Other siblings had to see how they would earn their living.
Diepholz
Dorothea Lamping is going to send me the information about her family. She says that their family goes back to 1623 and so is their
family farm.
Lotte, Germany
Lotte is located just west of Osnabrück.
It is really time to find someone who can dig into the archives of Lotte, Germany.
The churchbooks of Lotte list only the the first names of the baptised children. Very smart. I hope we encounter better documents.
Ds.(=referend) Gerhard Carl Lamping could be the father.
but most likely an uncle of Wilhelm Lamping.
Frans Hindrik Lamping is about two generated away from Wilhelm Lamping.
Heinrich Lamping living in Cappeln still lives. His wife is about 70 years old. That makes them of the 1926 generation.
>>Berndt Lampinck is the oldest owner of the Lamping farm. >>Otto Lamping told this.
He came with a kopie of the "Schatzungsregister" Tax register.
See Berndt Lampinck for details. The family site is still owned by the Lamping family: Heinrich Lamping and his son.
The original farm was broken down and a new one built up. It is not exactly known when. The farm is located: Ibbenbürener Str. 7, Lotte, Germany.
